TRS Ribbons UK

Screen Printing

This describes the process from receipt of artwork to printed ribbon:

The customer sends in the artwork, or provides a design brief and the origination is done by TRS. From the artwork a positive film is made and passed to production. The production team assess the artwork and decide on the correct ink for the job and the appropriate grade of mesh for the printing screen.

Step 1

screen (often call a silk screen)
of the correct mesh count is cleaned
and thoroughly degreased

Step 2

The mesh is coated with a
photo sensitive emulsion and dried

  Step 3

A positive film is made and the screen
is exposed under ultra violet light

Step 3

After exposure the screen is washed in
water and the soft unexposed coating is
washed away leaving the shape of the
image to be printed in the open mesh.

In the left picture it is the screen being printed and the right picture is the resulting ribbon of this process
